    • 2 eggs, beaten
    • 1/4 cup milk
    • 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
    • 2 T grated parmesan
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1/4 tsp pepper
    • 1 tsp garlic, minced
    • 1 lb ground beef
    • 1/2 lb bulk Italian sausage
    • SAUCE:
    • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
    • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
    • 1 small onion, chopped
    • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
    • 1/2 cup red wine or beef broth
    • 1/3 cup water
    • 2 garlic cloves, minced
    • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
    • 1 tsp basil
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1/2 tsp sugar
    • 1/2 tsp pepper
    • 6 to 7 Italian rolls, split
    • additional parmesan cheese, optional


    Instructions


    1. In a bowl, combine eggs and milk; add the next 5 ingredients. Add beef and sausage; mix well. Shape into 1" balls. Place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes at 400 degrees. Transfer to a slow cooker.
    2. Combine the next 11 ingredients; pour over meatballs. Cover and cook on LOW for 4-5 hours. Serve on rolls. Sprinkle with cheese, if desired.
