Italian Meatball Subs

List of Ingredients
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
- 2 T grated parmesan
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp garlic, minced
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb bulk Italian sausage
- SAUCE:
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
- 1/2 cup red wine or beef broth
- 1/3 cup water
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp basil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 6 to 7 Italian rolls, split
- additional parmesan cheese, optional
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine eggs and milk; add the next 5 ingredients. Add beef and sausage; mix well. Shape into 1" balls. Place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes at 400 degrees. Transfer to a slow cooker.
- Combine the next 11 ingredients; pour over meatballs. Cover and cook on LOW for 4-5 hours. Serve on rolls. Sprinkle with cheese, if desired.
