Recipe Introduction
Requires marinating overnight.
List of Ingredients
- 1/2 cup soy sauce or tamari
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon bottled chopped garlic
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 (1 1/2 to 2 pound) flank steak
Instructions
- In a large, resealable plastic bag, combine all the ingredients except the steak, shaking well to mix.
Add the steak, and turn to coat with the marinade.
- Refrigerate overnight, turning the bag occasionally.
- When ready to prepare, preheat the broiler or grill. Snip a corner of the bag and drain the marinade into a small saucepan.
- On a foil-lined broiling pan, place the flank steak and broil on the highest oven rack about 4 minutes on each side, or to desired doneness. Watch carefully for flare-ups. (Alternately, cook for 4 minutes on each side over a medium-hot fire on a grill.)
- Remove pan from oven and slice steak diagonally across the grain.
- Bring the marinade in the saucepan to a boil over medium-high heat; reduce and simmer for 5 minutes on low. Serve with the steak.
