    List of Ingredients


    • 2 tablespoons fresh basil leaves
    • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley
    • 1 (26 1/2-ounce) box Pomi tomatoes (drained)
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 4 cloves fresh garlic
    • 1 tablespoon capers (drained)
    • salt and pepper, to taste
    • 8 ounces penne rigate pasta (1/2 box)
    • 2 tablespoons butter
    • 2 tablespoons shredded Parmesan cheese (optional)


    Instructions


    1. Fill large saucepan 1/2 full of water. Cover and bring to a boil on high heat for pasta. Chop (rinsed) basil and parsley; then measure.
    2. Preheat large sauté pan on medium 2–3 minutes. Place oil in pan and swirl to coat. Crush cloves into pan, using garlic press. Use knife to remove garlic from bottom of press.

    3. Add capers, tomatoes, salt and pepper. Reduce heat to low and sauté, stirring often, 8–10 minutes.

    4. Stir pasta into boiling water. Boil 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender.

    5. Add herbs and butter to tomatoes. Sauté, stirring occasionally, 2 minutes. Drain pasta and add to tomatoes. Stir in cheese and serve.
