Everyone loves a good macaroni and cheese. Even those raised on the "blue box" variety won't be able to pass up this rich and filling winter treat.
List of Ingredients
- 1-3/4 cups small elbow macaroni, cooked and drained
- 1-1/4 cups 1/2-inch cubes extra-sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1-1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1-1/2 teaspoons dry mustard
- cayenne pepper, to taste
- black pepper, to taste
- pinch nutmeg
- 1-1/3 cups half-and-half
- 1-1/3 cups heavy cream
- 2/3 cup sour cream
- 2 large whole eggs
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1-1/2 cups extra-sharp cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Generously butter a 13 x 9 x 2 -inch glass baking dish.
- Fill dish with drained macaroni and toss with cubed cheese.
- Whisk together flour, salt, mustard, cayenne, pepper and nutmeg.
- Whisk in half-and-half, heavy cream and sour cream.
- Beat in eggs and Worcestershire. Pour over macaroni and mix.
- Spread remaining cheese over the top.
- Bake 25 minutes until bubbling hot and golden brown. Let stand 10 minutes before serving very hot.
