    List of Ingredients


    • 3 cups self-rising flour
    • 2/3 cup sugar
    • 3 tsp baking powder
    • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
    • 1 cup buttermilk
    • 1 cup (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
    • Glaze:
    • 1 cup confectioners sugar
    • 3 tbsp water
    • 1 tsp vanilla


    Instructions


    1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and baking powder.
    2. Cut in the butter until the mixture is crumbly.
    3. Stir in the buttermilk just until blended.
    4. Stir in the chocolate chips.
    5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Knead gently for 8-10 times. Pat into a 9 inch circle. Cut with a floured 2 inch biscuit cutter. Place 1 inch apart on greased baking sheets.
    6. Bake at 450 F for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to wire racks.
    7. In a small bowl, combine the glaze ingredients until smooth. Drizzle over the warm scones. Serve warm.
