Recipe Introduction
Hamantashen are the traditional Purim treat that is a cookie or pastry with a hidden inner filling of fruit. But sweet cheese kreplach are another sort of Purim pastry that is just as welcome.
List of Ingredients
- Dough:
- 3-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted, melted butter
- Filling:
- 3-4 ounce package cream cheese
- 1/2 lb. dry cottage cheese
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- Pinch salt
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
Instructions
- Have a well-buttered parchment lined baking sheet ready.
- Sift dry ingredients together.
- Mix sour cream, eggs and butter. Stir in the dry ingredients and knead for 2 minutes. Roll out on a floured board 1/4" thick. Cut into 4" squares.
- Blend filling ingredients together with a fork in a medium bowl.
- Place 1 tablespoon filling on each square; fold over to form a triangle and pinch the edges together.
- Place in the buttered baking pan and bake for about 40 minutes at 375°F.
