List of Ingredients
2 lbs dry pinto beans, soaked overnight
1 lg smoked ham hock
3 jalapeno peppers (or to taste)
1 qt canned tomatoes
5 garlic cloves, minced
2 onions, finely chopped
1 stalk celery, finely chopped
1 t salt
1 t oregano
1 t savory
2 T sugar
Tomato juiceRecipe
Simmer ham hock in 2 qts water for 2 hours. Add pre-soaked beans and rest of ingredients. Add tomato juice to bring total to 4 1/2 qts. Cover and simmer 6-8 hours. Stir occasionally and check liquid level. These will cook down to a thick consistency(like other baked beans
