    List of Ingredients




    1/2 cup water
    1/2 package raisins
    1/2 cup shortening
    1 cup sugar
    2 eggs
    2 cups flour
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
    1 teaspoon nutmeg
    1/4 teaspoon cloves
    1/2 teaspoon allspice
    1 cup applesauce
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1 cup nuts

    Recipe



    In a saucepan bring water and raisins to a simmer - once raisins are plump set aside to cool.

    Cream shortening, sugar and eggs. Mix dry ingredients. Add to shortening mixture along with applesaue and vanilla. Add raisins. Bake 35 minutes at 350°F.
