List of Ingredients
1 cube margarine
1 cup shortening (not oil)
3 cups sugar
5 eggs
3 cups flour
1 cup milk
1 tesp vanilla extract
3/4 tesp almond extract
pinch of salt
Recipe
DO NOT PREHEAT OVEN. IT'S PUT IN A COLD OVEN on the middle shelf.
Grease & flour tube cake pan. Cream soft marg. & chortening. Gradually add sugar; mix well. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir salt into flour. Start mixer on low speed then increase after each addition while gradually adding flour & milk alternately (starting & ending with flour), mixing well after each addition. Add both flavorings & blend in well. Pour into pan & set in COLD oven; set oven at 325 degrees. Bake for 1 hr 25 mins (ck with broom straw about 10 mins before to see if done). it should be nicely browned. Remove from oven & let stand 5 mins then turn over (with cake rack over top). Leave pan in place until cake loosens by itself, then take knife & run around pan & tube. Flip over onto a plate. Cool min. of 1 hour before covering. FREEZES WELL
