List of Ingredients
Without a doubt that (boiling the ground beef) has to be the best tip I've learned here.
Cornstarch & warm water to wash windows
Good hint was wrapping celery in foil before refrigerating it.
Powdered sugar instead of flour when rolling out dough.
Freezing a head of cabbage, then take out when ready to use for cabbage rolls. I'll never go back to boiling the leaves again.
Cooking Rice.
You get a large pot of water to boiling, add salt if you want, a tablespoon of oil and then add the long grain rice. No need to measure. Boil for 17 min. or until done. Drain in strainer. Otherwise, cook the rice just like pasta. The rice is so nice and fluffy. Not the stuck together gummy kind. Leftover rice reheats in the microwave the next day as nice as the first.
Its really wonderful when makeing a rice salad or rice pudding as well.

SPAGETTI STAINS
To get tough stains removed from your washable clothing, use powdered dishwashing detergent (i.e. powdered Cascade, Electrosol, etc.) Simply wet the fabric, sprinkle with detergent and then scrub gently with a toothbrush; rinse the item and then launder as usual. I have found that this works well with any tomato-based stain such as tomato sauce, ketchup, chili sauce, etc
COOKING BACON IN THE OVEN
Bacon can easily be prepared in the oven. Pre-heat the oven to 375 F. Lay the strips of bacon in a single layer on a cookie sheet that has
been covered with parchment paper. Bake until the bacon starts to brown (about 12-18 minutes). No need to turn it over. Drain on paper
towels before serving.
FRYING FISH
scallops, haddock etc. roll in cornstarch before dipping in batter. Sticks alot better and you don't have pieces of batter floating all over the place.
MASHING POTATOES
After mashing potatoes put a sheet of paper towel between cover and pot and it will keep potatoes from getting soggy if sitting for any length of time
USE brewed tea in place of water in my beef stew.
Reusable Ice Pack
1 part 70% rubbing alcohol
2 parts water
2 gallon size ZipLock freezer bags
Take one bottle of 70% rubbing alcohol and pour the entire bottle into a zip-lock bag. Zip the bag closed and place in at least one more ZipLock bag to prevent leakage. Label the bag "Not Edible."
Place flat in the freezer. It will take about 8 hours initially to get it cold.
Take it out when you need it. Wrap a towel around it before using. Do not leave the ice on for more than 15 minutes. Do not fall asleep while the ice is on you.
When finished, wipe off the ice pack and refreeze.
Use the double zip ...zip lock freezer bags...
Hint: Removing bacon from its store bought package.
Take a new package of bacon, before you open it, and roll in jelly roll fashion lengthwise.
When you open the package to take out the bacon, the pieces will separate easily.
POTATOES NOT BOILING OVER ON STOVE really works.
She said to put oil all along the edgeof the pot. You don't need much. I'm boiling some potatoes right now and the lid was rattling away when usually it would be boiling over. What a great helpful hint.
