Recipe Introduction
Posted by: EdizinAz Have used this (with a great variety of seasonings) for many years - for skillet frying, deep frying, and baking.
Each “flavor” of breading is made by “powderizing” the cornflakes in a blender after having crushed them very fine with a rolling pin. The chosen seasoning is then added to the cornflake powder in the blender. (Depending on how “coarse” the seasoning is, it can be “powderized” also, which seems to provide a better overall distribution of the flavor.)
List of Ingredients
Basic Recipe:
1 c powderized corn flakes
1/2 c bread crumbs, unseasoned
1/4 c self-rising flour
1 t Accent
1 t baking powder
*Seasoning (Vary amounts to your taste.)
Recipe
Directions:
After the cornflakes have been “powderized,” add the other ingredients to the blender and mix thoroughly.
Use your regular method, wet or dry, for breading/coating the food.
*Seasoning depends on intended use:
We make this in “bulk” by multiplying the first four ingredients (leaving out any seasonings) and blending as above. To use, take out a “regular batch” (1 3/4 c) and add to it the seasoning of choice which has been “powderized.” Mix or blend together thoroughly. (Since we have the bulk basic recipe, we usually powderize several batches of various seasonings, storing them in little plastic 35mm film canisters which you can get free at most photo processors.)
