    List of Ingredients




    1 lb. lard
    2 tsp. salt
    5 ½ cups flour
    7-Up (Gingerale, club soda, etc.) - ¾ to 1 cup or more

    ½ to ¾ cup flour for rolling purposes

    Have lard at room temperature for easy workability. Put first three ingredients in large bowl. Cut with a pastry blender or potato masher until lard is reduced to crumbs and distributed throughout. Add 7-Up and mix well, starting with ½ cup. Mixture should form a soft and workable ball, but should not be sticky. Add more of the liquid if necessary.

    Roll pastry using an ample sprinkling of flour. If dough is soft, simply chill slightly before baking.

    Pastry browns nicely and stores well. Also great for freezing
