Recipe Introduction
Source: “Taste of Home” Feb/March “96***********These taste just like Golden Corrals hot rolls
When mixing the rolls, don’t add all your flour. Leave a portion of it to work in while you knead. This is a trick my Grandma taught me.
List of Ingredients
2 c. water
1 c. quick-cooking oats
3 T. butter or margarine
1 pkg. active dry yeast
1/3 c. warm water (110-115º)
1/3 c. packed brown sugar
1 T. sugar
1 1/2 t. salt
4 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
melted butter (optionalRecipe
In a saucepan, bring water to a boil; add oats and butter. Cook and stir for 1 minute. Remove from the heat; cool to lukewarm.
In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water (I like to sprinkle just a little sugar to help get the yeast going). Let set for 10 minutes.
Then add the oat mixture, sugars, and flour; beat until smooth. Then turn out on a floured surface and knead for 7 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top, cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
Punch down; let rest (covered) 10 minutes.
Shape into 24 balls. Place in a sheet cake pan (15x10”) that has been sprayed with a non-stick cooking spray. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes.
Bake at 350º for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
When done, put rolls on wire rack and lightly brush with melted butter.
**Personal Note - I patted the dough out and cut with a biscuit cutter and baked at 375 degrees. GREAT RECIPE
