You'll love eating it because it does not contain any tomato paste, thus making it less acidic. Serve this over hot cooked spaghetti accompanied by a tossed salad and garlic bread
List of Ingredients
3/4 lb. Italian sausage, bulk suggested
1/4 to 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onions
1 garlic clove, minced
1 (16-oz.) can diced tomatoes, ndrained (petite cut suggested)
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 (4 oz.) can slilced mushrooms, drained
1/2 cup chopped green peppers
2 Tbsp. quick-cooking tapioca
2 bay leaves
1 tsp. dried Italian seasoningk, crushed
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 dash salt
1/4 tsp. fenned seeds (optional)
Recipe
In a large skillet, cbown the Italian sausage, ground beef, onion and garlic, until the onions are softened and no pink remains in the meat. Drain well and reserve. In a 3-1/2 quart or larger crockpot combine the tomatoes with juice and remaining ingredients. Mix well to blend. Add the reserved meat mixture. Cook on LO heat for 8-10 hours or on HI heat for 4-5 hours. Discard the bay leaf. Serve over hot cooked spaghetti.
