    1 lb. green beans
    2 Tb. salad oil (I use olive oil now!!)
    1 clove garlic
    1 Tb. chopped onion
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. basil leaves (1 Tb. fresh basil is even better!!)
    1/2 tsp. sugar
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    1/4 c. boiling water

    Recipe



    Wash beans; remove tips, then cut in halves crosswise.
    Heat oil in skillet. Cut garlic clove in half and add to oil along with onion; cook 'til soft. Remove garlic.
    Add beans and remaining ingredients. Cover and cook over med. heat 'til tender-crisp, about 25 minutes. Add 1 Tb. additional water if necessary.

    Makes 4 servings

    Kay's note: I sometimes do a beef stir-fry and add these beans instead of the frozen green beans that particular recipe calls for. This makes a good stir-fry dish even better!!
