    Watching your fat intake? This recipe is just as delicious with reduced-fat products. Us non-fat ricotta cheese for cottage cheese and substitute light cream cheese, non fat dairy sour cream, and low-fat cheddar cheese for the regular counterpart.

    List of Ingredients




    8 ounces wide egg noodles
    1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
    1/4 cup green bell pepper, chopped
    1 clove garlic, minced
    3 - 8 oz., cans tomato sauce
    1 tablespoon sugar
    1/8 teaspoon salt
    1/8 teaspoon pepper
    1 cup cottage cheese
    8 ounces pkg cream cheese, softened
    1/4 cup sour cream
    3 green onions, chopped
    1 cup grated cheddar cheese

    Recipe



    1. Cook noodles according to package directions. Drain and rinse with cold water.

    2. Cook ground beef, green pepper and garlic until the beef is browned. Drain the fat. Add tomato sauce, sugar and salt and pepper. Stir in the noodles.

    3. Combine cottage cheese and cream cheese. Add sour cream and green onions

    4. Layer half of the noodle mixture into a greased 9 x 13 baking dish. Top the layer with the cottage cheese mixture and the remaining noodle mixture. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese.

    5. Bake, uncovered, in a 350° oven for 30 minutes or until heated through.
