    1 pkg. strawberry cake mix (2 layer)
    1 1/4 c. water
    1/3 c. vegetable oil
    3 egg whites
    1 pkg. (4 serving size) strawberry gelatin
    1 c. boiling water
    1/2 c. cold water
    1 container (8 oz) frozen whipped toppoing; thawed
    Fresh strawberries, if desired

    Heat oven to 350. Grease bottom only of rectangular pan, 13x9 inches, with shortening. Make cake mix as directed on box using water, oil and egg whites.

    Bake 28 to 33 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely, about an hour.

    Pierce cake all over with fork. Stir gelatin and boiling water in a small bowl until smooth; stir in cold water. Pour over cake. Run knife around the sides of pan to loosen cake. Refrigerate 2 hours. Frost with whipped toppping; garnish with slices of strawberries.

    I have also used with with raspberry instead of the strawberry
