    1/2 cup butter, softened
    1 cup sugar
    2 eggs
    1/2 tsp almond extract
    2 cups all-purpose flour
    1 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp salt
    1 cup sour cream
    1 can (16oz) whole-berry cranberry sauce
    1/2 cup sliced almonds
    Glaze:
    3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
    2 tbsp water
    1/2 tsp almond extract

    In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Stir in almond extract.

    Combine the flour, powder, soda and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with the sour cream. Spread half of the batter into a greased 10 inch tube pan; top with half of the cranberry sauce. Repeat layers. Sprinkle with almonds.

    Bake at 350° for 50-55 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack. Combine glaze ingredients until smooth; drizzle over cake.
