It has always fascinated my husband that with just a few changes of ingredients in a basic recipe you can wind up with a bread or a pasta or a cake or a dumpling or yorkshire pudding or..... I mean think about it. Flour + water + salt + maybe an egg or two, or whatever you want to add to it can turn into a fine pastry or into a pasty. Cooking to him must seem like Chemistry. For me, well I just love to cook. I love to get the house smelling like bread or a savory simmering stew. I enjoy making my meals from scratch. I just throw on some music or a movie and (silly me) I am off and cooking. I have a cookbook where the author explains that whenever she bakes a certain bread she always cranks up the Eagles, and sings along at the top of her lungs. She can't say why, other than it soothes her and just adds to the experience. So that is what I hope you have if you try any of these recipes. An experience. And hopefully a pleasant one. Good day, and good appetite!
