Recipe Introduction
A wonderfully light and fluffy dinner roll. The dough also works well for cinnamon rolls.
List of Ingredients
- 1 envelope active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1 cup scalded milk
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 4-1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- Sprinkle yeast over warm water in large bowl. Stir until dissolved. Stir in in beaten egg.
- Stir butter,salt and sugar into hot milk until milk cooled to 105-115 degrees
- Add milk mixture to yeast mixture.
- Beat in 4 cups of flour, 1 cup at a time to form a soft dough. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes, using remaining flour. Dough should remain soft and slightly sticky.
- Place dough into greased bowl, then turn dough over so greased side is up. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 1-1/2 hours
- Punch down and knead for 4-5 minutes
- Shape into rolls and place in buttered 13x9 pan, just barely touching.
- Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes
- Brush tops with melted butter or margarine and bake in 375 degree oven for 18-20 minutes or until brown.
