    List of Ingredients


    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1/2 cup flour
    • 1/2tsp. salt
    • 2 cups milk (scalded)
    • 3 egg yolks
    • 2 Tbsp. butter
    • 1 tsp. vanilla


    Instructions


    1. Mix sugar, flour and salt in the top of a double boiler.
    2. Stir in milk and cook over boiling water about 10 minutes. Stirring until thickens.
    3. Add slightly beaten egg yolks and cook 2 minutes stirring constantly.
    4. Add butter and vanilla and cool slightly.
    5. Pour into baked pie shell or use for cream puff filling.
    6. Modifications:
      Coconut: Stir 1/2 cup shredded coconut into cream filling and sprinkle on top.
    7. Chocolate: Add 2 sq. chocolate to milk. Beat until smooth. Reduce flour to 5 Tbsp.
    8. Butterscotch: Substitute 1/2 cup packed brown sugar for granulate sugar and increase butter to 3 Tbsp.
