Nutty Scramble
List of Ingredients
1 1/2 cups walnut halves
1 cup blanched almonds
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
3 egg whites
3/4 cup sifted flour
Combine walnuts and almonds in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Sprinkle with salt. Bake at 325 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from pan to cool. Pour butter in pan. Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Fold in sugar and flour. Fold in nuts. Spread mixture over melted butter. Bake at 325 degrees for 30-35 minutes, or until nuts are brown, stirring occasionally to break apart. Cool. Yield: about 5 cups candy.
