Standard White Layer Cake

Cream 1/2 cup butter, add 1 1/4 cups fine granulated sugar stirring constantly. Sift together 2 cups flour 3 1/2 tsp baking powder and 1/8 tsp salt. Add to the butter/sugar alternating with 1/2 cup milk. Add desired flavoring. Beat thoroughly then fold in the whites of 3 eggs beaten until stiff. Bake in 2 buttered layer pans in moderate oven for 15 to 20 minutes. Recipe
