Habaneros are a paricular type of Capsicum Chinense that are distinctive in shape - kind of wrinkled, but a very glossy green ripening to bright orange, on plants that have big leaves, but grow slowly until it gets hot. Scotch Bonnets are a related pepper in the same family that are a bit more top-shaped. There are lots of color variations in scotch bonnets and Habs - I have seen those that are green or pale green when immature, and can ripen to orange, deep yellow, red, nearly white, or chocolate brown. There are lots of shape variations as well. I have one called Billy Goat that is dark green, very smooth and top shaped, ripening to a deep glossy red. They are all incredibly hot! Saving seeds from them is quite an adventure, and one that gloves is essential for (take it from me, who did NOT use them the year I grew about 80 types of hot peppers!).
