Raspberry and White Chocolate Jam
List of Ingredients
RASPBERRY AND WHITE CHOCOLATE JAM
1 jar Raspberry Jam (or any other you prefer)
1/4 to 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
Recipe
Open the jar and remove most of the jam (leaving about 1 inch in the bottom). Place a teaspoon or so of white chocolate chips on top of what is in the jar (close to the glass and in a small mound). Add more jam to the jar along with more chips. Layer jam and chips until the jar is full.
Place in the microwave for 20 seconds without the lid. Replace the lid, close tightly and then
shake the jar. The chips will melt together and spread a little. If they are still holding their
shape, remove the lid and place in the microwave for no more than 20 seconds. Replace the lid and
shake the jar. Store in the refrigerator.
Great for gifts in a fancy jar. Be careful with the jar. For example the local $1.00 store has some great looking colored glass jars but they are what is called flash glass. It is not just modern glass either! Mom had some from the 50s and 60s. It is an old technique. The color is not in the glass but on it and will come off in hot water and will come off into food also. Check if you aren't sure about the jars you buy. Most of the time a good hot bath will tell you if you let them soak. If it's doubtful---it's dirty. don't use it.
[saying is from an old story where the Mom sends the son to wash his hands. He yells to her "Are the hands clean enough?" She doesn't even look but says "no wash them again" The son asks her how she knew his hands weren't clean and her reply was "If it's doubtful it's dirty"]
