    Apple Strudel

    List of Ingredients




    2 1/2 c flour
    1 t salt
    2 T shortening
    2 eggs slightly beaten
    1/2 c warm water
    5 c sliced apples
    1 c brown sugar
    1/2 c seedless raisins
    1/2 c chopped nuts
    5 T melted butter
    1/2 t cinnamon
    grated rind of 1 lemon

    Recipe



    Sift Flour and salt. Cut in shortening. Add eggs and water to mix. Knead well [heck put in ABM and set on dough I will prob hear from my Better Half baker on this] after beat the dough against the board until it blisters [gotta ask about this. Never saw BH do this but heck I stay out of the way of the baking. I might get asked to help.] Put in riser [did I spell that right?] cover with cloth and let for 20 minutes. cover kitchen table with cloth [wouldn't foil do???] Flour it [what a mess to warsh] Put dough on it and pull by hand to thickness of tissue paper [ha like I would ever get to that point] Spread with mix [fruit, sugar, melted butter, cinnamon and lemon rind] Fold in outer edge of dough like jelly roll [what you think I make em?] about 4 inches wide. Bake in a very hot oven [450 F] for 10 minutes, reduce heat to 400F an bake 20 minutes longer Let cool. Cut in slices about 2 inches wide. Should be flaky, moist.
