Carnival Funnel Cake

Funnel Cakes

Here's the one my Mom used to use at a carnival.

5 eggs
3 1/2 cups milk
1 teaspoon salt
4 cups flour (heaping)
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 teaspoons baking powder
10 teaspoons sugar

Toppers for cakes:
10X sugar (powdered sugar)
canned apple pie filling

Combine ingredients in order given. Slowly pour mixture through a regular funnel into hot fat melted in 8" fry pan. (We used 8" cast iron pans.) Crisscross the pan using tip of finger to stop the batter. Fry until golden. Top with powdered sugar or fruit.
