Rote Kraut
List of Ingredients
4 tbs bacon fat
1 small onion, chopped fine
2-1/2 lb. head of red cabbage, shredded
1 apple, pared and quartered
Mixture:
1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 cup water
2 tbs.sugar
Brown onion in bacon fat. Add cabbage and vinegar, water, sugar mixture.
Season with salt and pepper to taste and mix lightly. Place apples quarters
on top of cabbage. Cover and cook about 20 minutes in a regular pan or 4
minutes in a pressure cooker.
