S. M.'s Wntergreen Mints

Wntergreen Mints

1-1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup boiling water
A few drops of oil of Wintergreen
drop or two of green food coloring

Using a granite saucepan over fire tir water and sugar till dissolved.
Boil it until threads or forms a soft ball in cold water
(I would use a candy therm. here to soft ball stage here). Remove from
stove add Wintergreen and food color, beat until it thickens and looks
cloudy. Drop from tip of spoon on slightly buttered paper.

Recipe says to use 4 drops of peppermint for Peppermint Wafers... [pink food color]
