Sour Cherry Pie
List of Ingredients
4 cups sour cherries - pitted and washed
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 T. butter
pastry for a 2 crust pie.
Prepare pie dough ahead or time annd chill. To prepare pie - Roll 1/2 of dough and place in a 9" pie pan. Set aside. For cherry pie filling, combine sugar, flour and salt. In a large bowl, toss sour cherries with sugar mixture. Add a drop or two of red food coloring if desired. Pour filling into the unbaked pie shell. Dot with butter. Roll out remainining dough for top crust. Place on top. Crimp edges together. Slit top crust in few places and in center.
Bake pie for 35 to 40 minutes in a preheated 350º oven.
