Sherry's Easy Devil Food Cake

Selected by judges and 4H leaders to be shared because of appearance, flavor and uniqueness.





List of Ingredients



• 1 1/2 cups sugar
  
• 1/2 cup shortening
  
• 2 eggs
  
• 1 tablespoon baking soda
  
• 1 cup water
  
• 1 1/2 cup sifted cake flour
  
• 1/2 cup cocoa
  
• 1/8 teaspoon salt
  
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
  






Instructions



1. Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs and beat well. Dissolve soda in water. Sift in flour, cocoa, and salt alternately with water and baking soda mix.
   
   
2. Add vanilla. Bake at 350F for 25-30 minutes
   
   
3. 2 eight inch layers
