Southern Style Turnip Greens with Turnip

Genie] This is the way my mother used to cook turnip greens. If you don't want to add turnips, just leave them out, but they are very good cooked together.
2 pounds fresh turnip greens
6 slices bacon, chopped
1/2 cup water
3 medium turnips, diced
1 1/2 tsp white sugar
Salt to taste
Wash greens thoroughly, removing large stems, drain andd tear into bite sized pieces. Cook bacon in a Dutch oven until crisp. Crumble and set aside. Reserve drippings in Dutch oven. Add greens and water. This doesn't sound like much water, but a surprising amount will cook out of the greens. Add more if needed. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Stir in turnips, sugar and salt. Cover and simmer for an additional 20 minutes or until they are as tender as you like them. Spoon into a serving dish and sprinkle bacon over the top.
