    CRUSTY CHICKEN WINGS

    For W.F.S., Columbus. From Creative Cooking -- Poultry.

    18-24 chicken wings

    1/4 cup vegetable oil

    1 cup fine dry bread crumbs

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1/4 teaspoon pepper

    1/4 teaspoon oregano

    2 teaspoons curry powder

    Orange sauce, optional, recipe follows

    Cut chicken wings at the joints to make 3 pieces. Freeze wing tips to use later for soup. Brush remaining wing pieces with oil.

    Combine bread crumbs, salt, pepper, oregano and curry powder in a plastic bag. Add 6 wing pieces at a time and shake well to coat evenly. Repeat until all are well- coated.

    Heat oven to 400. Place chicken in a large baking dish. Bake 35 minutes or until chicken is crusty outside and tender inside.

    Serve hot with Orange Sauce if desired. Makes 10-12 servings.

    Orange Sauce

    From Classic Chinese Cooking.

    1 1/4 cups fresh orange juice

    1 tablespoon cider vinegar

    3 tablespoons sugar

    1 tablespoon orange liqueur

    1 tablespoon cornstarch

    Mix all ingredients and cook over medium heat, stirring, until sauce thickens and boils. Serve immediately.
