    Bavarian Apple Kraut w/Smoked Pork Chops

    List of Ingredients




    4 8 ounce center cut lean smoked pork chops
    1 6 ounce package sauerkraut
    8 ounces thinly sliced granny smith apples
    8 ounces thinly sliced bermuda onions
    pinch each: thyme, oregano, majoram, cracked black pepper, caraway seeds
    2 tablespoons dijon mustard
    4 fluid ounces chicken broth
    4 fluid ounces apple juice
    4 fluid ounces Gewurztraminer or other sweet wine

    Saute apples and onions in butter until golden brown. Add fresh herbs, mustard and liquid ingredients. Be sure to first rinse & strain sauerkraut. Add to mixture. Simmer on low heat while stirring occasionally approximately 30 minutes. If necessary, replace evaporated fluids with little water. About 4 minutes before serving, place pork chops on top of kraut and cover. Allow to simmer. Serve with mashed potatoes.
