    Sweet and Sour Meatballs

    These are always a favorite, and the meatballs (without the sauce) can be frozen.


    List of Ingredients


    • 3/4 cup dry bread crumbs
    • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 1 cup finely chopped onion
    • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
    • 1/2 tsp. pepper
    • 1 1/2 tsp. worcestershire sauce
    • SAUCE:
    • 1 cup water
    • 1 Tbsp. beef bouillion powder
    • 14 oz. pineapple tidbits, with juice
    • 2-3 green peppers, cut into strips
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 6 Tbsp. cornstarch
    • 1 cup vinegar (can be reduced to 3/4 cup)
    • 2 Tbsp. soya sauce


    Instructions


    1. Stir first 7 ingredients in bowl.
    2. Add beef. Mix. Shape into 1 inch balls. Arrange on baking sheet with sides. Cook in 375 F oven for 15 to 20 minutes until cooked. Transfer to small roaster, or large casserole.
    3. SAUCE:
    4. Place water, powder, pineapple with juice, and green pepper in saucepan. Bring to a boil. Simmer, covered, for 4 minutes until green pepper is teneder crisp.
    5. Mix cornstarch, sugar, vinegar, and soy sauce insmall bowl. Stir into boiling mixture until it boils and thickens. Pour over meatballs. To serve later, heat in 350 F oven for 1 1/2 hours. Turn oven to 200 F to hold.


    Final Comments


    Yield: 48 meatballs
