    Applesauce Cake

    List of Ingredients




    1/2 cup shortening
    2 cups sugar
    1 large egg
    1 and 1/2 cups applesauce
    3 cups flour
    1 and 1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    3/4 tsp. ground cloves
    1 and 1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 tsp. allspice
    1/2 cup water
    Optional: 1 and 1/2 cups raisins, 1/2 cup walnuts

    Recipe



    Mix all ingredients thoroughly. Pour in 9x13 pan. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.
    While still hot, top with mixture of:
    2 tablespoons flour
    2 tablespoons water
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/4 cup butter
    Return to oven until topping bubbles.

    Cream cheese frosting is also good on this cake!
