Baked Beans

Recipe Introduction
These are great for a "bring a dish to pass" supper. They make a lot, as you can see. I made them and they were delicious.
I used a full pound of bacon in this recipe, but saved some for the top of the beans.
List of Ingredients
- 1/2 pound bacon
- 1 large onion diced
- 1 green pepper diced
- 2 stalks celery
- 1 TBSP parsley
Instructions
- Fry bacon until crisp. In same pan with grease add the rest of above ingredients. Sauté until tender not brown.
- In 9x13 inch pan add 2 cans red kidney beans, drained; 2 cans white kidney beans, drained; add 1 large can baked beans, drained (if you can get Grandma Brown baked beans they taste the best. If not regular baked beans will do)
- Add top ingredients to beans.
In bowl add:
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup chili sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 TBSP mustard
1/2 cup maple syrup (or pancake syrup )
Mix thoroughly and pour over beans mix until blended. Add strips of bacon on top .
- Bake 375 degrees for 45 minutes.
Final Comments
I made half of this recipe for us and they were really good.
