    Buttermilk Brownies

    2 sticks margarine
    ½ cup cocoa
    2 cup flour
    2 cup sugar
    ½ tsp. salt
    buttermilk
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. soda
    2 tsp. vanilla
    1 lb. powdered sugar
    1 cup chopped nuts

    Combine 1 stick margarine, ¼ cup cocoa and 1 cup water in saucepan. Bring to a boil, mixing well. Pour over mixture of flour, sugar and ½ tsp. salt in bowl. Add ½ cup buttermilk, eggs, soda and 1 tsp. vanilla, mixing well. Pour into greased and floured jelly roll pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

    Combine remaining 1 stick margarine with ¼ cup cocoa and 1/3 cup buttermilk in saucepan. Bring to a boil, blending well. Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients, mixing until creamy. Frost brownies immediately upon removing from oven. Cut into squares when cooled.
