    Apple-Walnut "Pizza Pie

    Source of Recipe

    Crisco® Oil

    Makes 6 to 8 servings

    Pizza Crust
2-1/2 cups PILLSBURY BEST® All-Purpose or Unbleached Flour
    1/4 cup granulated sugar
    1-1/4 teaspoons salt
    1/2 cup CRISCO® Canola Oil*
    1/4 cup milk
    1/2 teaspoon almond extract
    Pizza Topping
4 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, quartered and sliced thin
    1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/3 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
    3 tablespoons raisins
    1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
    1/2 tablespoon vanilla
6 tablespoons SMUCKER'S® Cider Apple Butter
    1/2 cup flaked coconut

*Or use your favorite Crisco Oil.

    1. Preheat oven to 400°F. For pizza crust, combine flour, granulated sugar and salt in large bowl; stir until well blended. Whisk together oil, milk and almond extract in small bowl until well blended. Slowly pour oil mixture into flour mixture while stirring with fork until well mixed and crumbly.

    2. Spray 12-1/4-inch pizza pan with CRISCO No-Stick Cooking Spray. Press crumb mixture firmly onto bottom and side of pan. Bake at 400°F for about 10 minutes or until golden brown; remove from oven. Reduce oven temperature to 350°F.

    3. For pizza topping, combine apples, walnuts, brown sugar, raisins, cinnamon and vanilla in large bowl; stir until well blended.

    4. Spread SMUCKER'S® Cider Apple Butter evenly over baked pizza crust. Place apple mixture on top. Sprinkle with coconut "cheese." Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes. Cut into "pizza slices"; serve warm or at room temperature.

Kitchen Hint Apple butter is a preserve made by slowly cooking apples, sugar, spices and cider together. It is thick and has a dark brown color. It is great as a spread on breads and as an accompaniment to peanut butter.
