Yield: 8 Servings, This is a great sauce for hot dogs and hamburgers. Make the whole recipe, use half for spaghetti (add meat balls if you like) and freeze the other half for use with dogs and burgers.

    List of Ingredients

    • 2 lb ground beef
    • 1 qt water
    • 2 c tomato sauce (16oz)
    • 2 md onions
    • 4 tb chili powder
    • 2 tb vinegar
    • 4 cl garlic
    • 2 ts worcestershire sauce
    • 1 1/2 ts salt
    • 1/2 oz unsweetened chocolate
    • 1 ts cumin
    • 1 ts ground cinnamon
    • 5 whole allspice
    • 5 whole cloves
    • 1 lg bay leaf
    • 1/2 ts ground red pepper

    Instructions

    1. In heavy 4 quart kettle, place beef and water, stirring until beef separates into small pieces. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 30 minutes.
    2. Add remaining ingredients, stirring to blend well. You can substitute 4 1/2 teaspoons cocoa for the chocolate. Simmer, uncovered, about 3 hours.
    3. During last hour of cooking the pot may be covered after desired consistency is reached. Stir from time to time to blend flavors. Serve over freshly cooked spaghetti and garnish with any combination of chopped onions, grated cheddar cheese and warmed kidney or pinto beans.
