    Hot Crackers

    Source of Recipe

    my friend, Cindy Ferguson

    Recipe Introduction

These are very tasty...you can adjust the heat by adjusting the amount of the red pepper flakes you put in.

    List of Ingredients

    1 1/3 c. canola oil
    1 pkg. ranch dressing mix
    1 - 2 tb. red pepper flakes
    1 box saltine crackers
1 large container with a lid
2 tsp. garlic-parsley blend seasoning (opt.)(the last time I made them I didn't have the garlic/parsley blend, so I just added a bit of dried parsley and some powdered garlic to taste. The original recipe did not call for the blend at all, but Cindy adds it sometimes)

    Recipe

Mix oil, ranch mix, pepper flakes (if you really like things hot, add 2 tb....personally I recommend a scant 1 tb. of the flakes) and garlic-parsley blend. Put crackers in container and pour oil mixture over. Gently shake container. I kind of roll the container...trying not to break the crackers (I've also heard of putting the crackers in a gallon jar and rolling the jar). Let the crackers sit 12-24 hours, rolling/shaking several times through out the process. I then pour them out on paper towels and let them "dry" for a few hours before putting in an airtight serving/storage container.

If you can get the "heat" how you want it, these are addictive! My friend, Cindy, gives ziplock bags of them out at Christmas.
