    Hazel's Cookin with Country Stars Hot Dish

    This recipe was submitted by Alan Jackson. We ate it with mashed potatoes!

    List of Ingredients




    1 lb. cubed steak
    1/2 tsp meat tenderizer
    1/2 tsp salt
    2 tb. + 1/4 c. flour
    1/2 c. oil (when I make it again I'm going to use a little less oil)
    1/4 c. chopped onion
    1 1/2 c. water
    black pepper to taste (recipe did not call for, but I added)

    Sprinkle steak with tenderizer and salt. Dredge steaks in 1/4 c. flour. Heat oil in frying pan. Brown steak on both sides. Remove steak from pan. Reduce heat. Stir in 2 tb. flour and dash of salt. Brown flour without burning. Add about 1 1/2 c. water. Return steak to pan. Add chopped onions (and pepper if you like). Cover. Simmer on low heat 20-30 min. until meat is tender. If gravy is too thick, add more water to make gravy the right consistency. I also checked mine for salt. Makes 3-4 servings.
