    3 package active dry yeast
    ¾ cup warm water
    ¾ cup sugar
    ¾ cup scalded (then cooled) lukewarm milk
    3 eggs
    ¾ cup oil or shortening
    7 cups flour

    Recipe




    Dissolved yeast in warm water. Stir in milk, sugar, eggs, shortening and 2 ½ cups flour. Beat until smooth. Mix in enough remaining flour to make dough easy to handle.

    Turn dough on lightly floured surface. Knead until smooth and elastic (about 5 minutes) Place in greased bowl, turn greased side up. (May be refrigerated at this point for 3-4 days)

    Cover, let rise in warm place until doubled about 1 ½ hours. Punch down. Shape dough and let rise for 30 minutes.

    Heat oven 375 degrees. Bake rolls 15-20 minutes.

    Christmas trees 20-25 minutes
    Candy canes 25 minutes

    Trees and candy canes- without letting it rise again, bake at 375 degrees about 25 minutes. Top of baked bread is frosted with quick icing, giving it a stripped effect with cherry filling.
