    Molasses Fudge

My great-great-aunt Marie Louise (Collette) Chrétien gave me this recipe. Her name for it was politically incorrect (even in French), but the taste is undeniably delicious.

    3 squares unsweetened chocolate
    2 cups sugar
    1 cup molasses
    1 cup milk
    1 Tbsp. butter
    walnuts or peanuts (optional)

Melt chocolate. Add sugar, molasses and milk. Cook together until it comes to a boil. Cook for 18 to 20 minutes. Test at firm ball stage.
Add butter at end of cooking (and nuts, if desired.)
Put in a greased bowl and let harden. Cut as you wish.

    From Marie-Louise (Collette) Chrétien
