    Salisbury Steak

Now YOU can transform lowly ground beef (or turkey) into a meal fit for a...well, maybe not a KING, exactly. But it sure elevates it to a whole other level. Another example of vintage American comfort food at its best.

    1 can French onion soup
    1-1/2 lbs. ground beef
1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs (I use Italian)
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    1 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. ground black pepper
    1/4 cup water
    1/4 cup catsup
    1 tsp. Dijon mustard
    1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

In bowl, combine 1/3 cup soup with beef, breadcrumbs, egg, salt and pepper. Shape into 4 oval patties. Brown in skillet; pour off fat. Gradually blend remaining soup into flour until smooth. Add remaining ingredients to flour mixture and pour into skillet. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until done. Serves 4.
