Recipe Introduction
This is a great southern fried chicken recipe. Also handed down for several generations in my family. Granny cooks again!!
List of Ingredients
1 frying chicken
1/3 cup peanut oil
1 cup plain flour
salt and pepper to taste
Gravy
Save about 4 tablespoons grease from cooking chicken. Put enough flour out of sack in the hot grease to thinly cover pan, stirring flour while browning. Stir in potato water or plain water, stirring to desired thickness.
Recipe
Wash chicken and salt it well.
In paper sack put flour, salt and pepper or to taste. Shake mixture up. Heat cooking oil in frying pan. While cooking oil is heating place 2 to 3 pieces chicken in bag and shake well.
Place floured chicken in cooking oil and brown on both sides. After browning pieces turn heat down and cover. Cook until fork inserted in chicken will pull out easily.
