- 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 cup unsifted flour
- 3 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup margarine (2 sticks)
Instructions
- In a large bowl throughly mix 1 1/2 cups flour, sugar, salt and undissolved yeast.
- Combine milk, water and margarine in a saucepan.
- Heat over low heat until liquids are very warm (120F-130F).
- Margarine does not have to melt.
- Gruadually add to dry ingredients and beat 2 minutes at medium speed with electric mixter, scraping bowl occasionally.
- Stir in enough additional flour to make a soft dough.
- Turn out onto a lightly floured board.
- Knead until smooth and elastic, about 15 minutes.
- Place in greased bowl, turning dough to greased top.
- Cover; place bowl in pan of water of about 99 deg F.
- Let rise 15 minutes.
- Turn dough out onto floured board.
- Divide in half and shape as lucky clovers.
- Cover, let rise in warm place (about 190F) 15 minutes.
- Bake at 450 degrees for about 12 minutes or until done.
- Remove from baking sheet and cool on wire rack.
