    Apple Pie

    List of Ingredients


    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
    • 3 tablespoons all purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    • 7 cups thinly sliced pared apples
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 2 rolled pastry crusts (9")
    • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
    • 1 egg white
    • additional sugar


    Instructions


    1. In a small bowl, combine sugar, flour and spices, set aside.


    2. In a large bowl, toss apples with lemon juice.


    3. Add sugar mixture, toss well to coat.


    4. Line a 9" pie pan with one sheet of pastry crust.


    5. Place apple filling into crust, dot with butter.


    6. Roll out remaining pastry crust to fit top of pie.


    7. Cut a few slits in top.


    8. Beat egg white until foamy, brush over pastry.


    9. Sprinkle with sugar.


    10. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes.


    11. Increase temperature to 400 degrees and bake 10-15 minutes more or until golden brown.
