Meatballs N' Cabbage

List of Ingredients
- Meatballs:
- 2 - 2 1/2 lbs. extra lean ground beef
- 2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. onion powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 2 tsp. paprika
- 1/2 cup matzoh meal
- 2 eggs
- Sauce:
- 1 medium cabbage, shredded thickly
- 1 cup ketchup
- 15 oz. tomatoe sauce
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp. freshly sqeezed lemon juice
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3 - 4 cups water
Instructions
- Combine all sauce ingredients and bring to a boil. Lower heat. Combine meatball ingredients, form into balls, and add to sauce. Cover and cook on low heat 1 - 1 1/2 hours.
Final Comments
You can use any ground meat: bee, veal, turkey or chicken. I used a bag of bodek shredded cabbage and actually cooked this in the crockpot (i cooked it both ways already). Put crockpot on high for the first 1/2 hour or hour until it comes to a full boil and then leave on low until ready to serve.
Yield: 1 lb (half recipe)yielded 30 1" (small) balls.
