    List of Ingredients


    • Meatballs:
    • 2 - 2 1/2 lbs. extra lean ground beef
    • 2 tsp. garlic powder
    • 1 tsp. onion powder
    • 1/2 tsp. salt
    • 1/4 tsp. pepper
    • 2 tsp. paprika
    • 1/2 cup matzoh meal
    • 2 eggs
    • Sauce:
    • 1 medium cabbage, shredded thickly
    • 1 cup ketchup
    • 15 oz. tomatoe sauce
    • 2/3 cup brown sugar
    • 2 tbsp. freshly sqeezed lemon juice
    • 1/4 tsp. salt
    • 3 - 4 cups water


    Instructions


    1. Combine all sauce ingredients and bring to a boil. Lower heat. Combine meatball ingredients, form into balls, and add to sauce. Cover and cook on low heat 1 - 1 1/2 hours.


    Final Comments


    You can use any ground meat: bee, veal, turkey or chicken. I used a bag of bodek shredded cabbage and actually cooked this in the crockpot (i cooked it both ways already). Put crockpot on high for the first 1/2 hour or hour until it comes to a full boil and then leave on low until ready to serve.

    Yield: 1 lb (half recipe)yielded 30 1" (small) balls.
