    This recipe is from the "Virginia Hospitality Cookbook".

    12 ounces of smithfield ham, thinly sliced
    6 ounces of Cheddar cheese, sliced
    3 cups cabbage, shredded
    12 tablespoons mayonnaise
    3 teaspoons curry powder
    6 tablespoons chutney
    salt to taste
    12 slices rye bread
    12 ounces of butter

    Make chutney cole slaw by combining the curry powder with the mayonnaise, chutney (medium chop), salt and cabbage. Spread both slices of rye bread with butter. Place 2 ounces ham, 1/2 cup cole slaw, 1 ounce cheddar cheese on one slice, and top with other slice of buttered bread. Spread outside of the two slices of bread with 1 ounce of butter each. Place on a flat surface grill and toast until golden brown. Serves 6. Recipe can be prepared in any quantity.
